27 Fun and Engaging Google Applications Activities and Lessons for your semester Computer Applications class. The BONUS file includes a Lesson Library to make the activities easy-to-find to keep the teacher organized. A great supplement for your semester Google or Computer Applications class. Some of the student packets are intended to be printed out for each student to have their own copy.
The Lesson Library is an easy-to-follow list of all 27 Google lessons for ease of use. The lessons are listed in the order that I recommend you teach them. The lesson library also includes teacher tips and instructional suggestions.
There are no tests or quizzes included in this bundle. I use the Google projects and Google Simulations in this bundle to assess and evaluate the abilities and compentency of my students.
This Google Apps bundle includes the following lessons and activities:
✅Google Introductory Lessons
- Google Company Timeline – Students discover a timeline of Google’s development phase, they investigate what life is like at Google, and they imagine what it might be like to work for such a company!
- Google Apps Quick Discovery Activity – Students research some of the different apps in the Google Suite. (Not sold separately)
✅Google Slides Lessons
- About Me – I use this lesson as a pre-assessment to see what my new students are able to do in Google Slides. Also a great ‘Get to Know’ my new students activity.
- Google Travel Activity – Student discover an app in the Google Suite they likely have never used. Allows to students to be creative and showcase their Google Slides skills while also learning some very valuable adulting life skills.
- Dream Bedroom – Students use the tools of Google Slides to design their dream bedroom in the template background included.
- Hot Cocoa Stand – This fun lesson prompts students to discover the great array of tools that can be used as a graphic design program.
✅Google Docs Lessons
- Google Docs Exploration – I use this activity to show my students features in Google Docs they never knew existed.
- Google Docs Scavenger Hunt – Students explore Google Docs.
- Dream Dog – Students are prompted through a Google Doc formatting task activity.
- ‘How To’ activity – How to instructional Google Docs independent activity
- Small Business Love Letter – Perfect for Valentine’s Day or really anytime of the year. Students are prompted to write a formal ‘love’ letter to their favorite small business in Google Docs.
- Camping Google Doc – Camping trip independent activity
- Haunted House Google Discovery – Students are presented with detailed instructions to complete a digital flyer for a Haunted House business including visual aids.
- Google Docs Report – prompts students to format a double-spaced report on ‘The History of Video Games‘.
✅Google Sheets Lessons
- Learning the Google Sheets Interface – has two (2) activities to introduce your Computer Applications students to the Google Sheets interface.
- Energy Drink Google Sheets Mini-Simulation – has 3 jobs for students to follow and complete with step-by-step instructions and diagrams to aid students.
- Google Sheets Business Templates – an excellent way for students to familiarize themselves with business document templates offered using Google Sheets.
✅Google Earth
- I’m Feeling Lucky activity (Not sold separately) – Google Earth is such an underutilized learning resource. My kids always love these activities.
- Google Earth Scavenger Hunt (Not sold separately) – a fun Google Earth activity.
✅Google Keep
- Introduction to Google Keep – A discovery lesson and activity for a Google App most students have never used.
✅Google Projects
- Time Capsule Project – makes a great final/capstone project
- Thanksgiving Gratitude Wreath – a fun survival lesson before Thanksgiving break, or use with early finishers
- Food Truck Project – also makes a great final/capstone project
- My Year in Review – also a fun survival lesson or use with early finishers. Great at the end of the school year or at the end of the calendar year.

- Google Productivity Simulation – Dawn’s Ice Cold Drinks – Students complete 7 jobs for a fictitious business using Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Contacts, and Google Calendar.
- Friendsgiving Google Productivity Simulation – Students plan a Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving dinner using Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Keep, and Google Calendar.
